Delphi shortly after arrival at Traveller's Rest.

Delphi's previous owner said she had been trying to get weight on this mare, but could not and assumed she was in "organ failure" due to her age.

August 27, 2008 -- At this point, Delphi was gaining weight so rapidly that we were concerned about Cushings or insulin Resistance, so portions were reduced to slow weight gain.  So far, so good.  No signs of either syndrome.

No signs of organ failure here!

(As a point of reference, TREES has never had a horse arrive in a malnourished condition due to "organ failure."  In almost every case, the horses are underweight because they are not being offered a diet they can easily eat, given advanced dental wear.)
